Give Me the Child at 7 and I will..............

Modern social policy reaching it zenith.

Understatement of the day.

If I’m going to do it, Mum would rather I did it at home with her or at a house party with friends, than go down the park like some chav,’ says Sophie.

That's right, a proper young lady has standards.

England, Oh England
Even in enmity past admired
Thy glory has departed
The fair rose is a whore.

I can't remember the source, but there was a similar story (also in England, of course) a couple of years ago about a single mom with three daughters: 12, 14, and 16 . . . all of whom were simultaneously pregnant.

There have been similar stories since the newspaper was invented. The "tsk, tsk" story will always be with us.

More relevant, does anyone think it's even *possible* to have a section of society were there is significant wealth (i.e. enough wealth that making bad choices is unlikely to kill or even greatly harm you) that doesn't have a good portion making very bad choices.

Formerly, only the upper class had that sort of wealth, and I suspect a good number of them made bad choices. (Scandals have been common since time immemorial.) However, they were few in number, and had the power to keep it fairly quiet. (Think how much didn't make it to the common ear!)

Now, *everybody* has the luxury of making bad choices without paying a quick and permanent price. And no surprise, there's lots of people making bad choices.

SP, I think what you are bemoaning has always been part of our nature. It's simply that we've never been wealthy enough to be able to safely act upon it.
