Thomas Woodrow Wilson (1856 - 1924), a Democrat, was elected as the 28th President of the United States of America, and reelected in 1916, serving from 1913 to 1921. A Princeton president who became an intellectual leader of the Progressive Movement, Wilson demonstrated his mastery over Congress by creating the Federal Reserve System, lowering the tariff, and revising the antitrust laws in a way that ended most of the "trust-busting" and drew clear lines on what was allowed. In general these policies would be in line with conservative recommendations in 2009.[ED] He supported liberal policies such as raising wages of railroad workers when they threatened a nationwide strike in 1916. Trying repeatedly and failing to broker peace during World War I, Wilson in 1917 led the United States into the war. He set up a draft and trained millions of soldiers, sending the American Expeditionary Forces to France under the command of General John J. Pershing. Woodrow Wilson was also known for his racist policies promoting segregation, and promoted eugenics based off of Darwinist theory.[2].Woodrow Wilson was doing in 1913 what has become mainstream Republican policy in 2009. How depressing is that. Conservatism in the U.S. and the rest of the world is in serious trouble. It has literally become a party of the retarded.

100 Years Retarded
Was browsing Conservapedia today and noticed this on the biography of Woodrow Wilson;

Wonder who the "Conservapedia" editors actually are. If it's like Wikipedia, could be anybody. In which case, modern Republicans = notorious Democrat racist Woodrow Wilson is likely just a cheap shot about opposing Captain Hope'n'Change. (Choice of 2009 as reference year suggests that may be the case.)
That said, the modern Republicans would have been regarded as insanely left-wing in the America of 1980, never mind 1910. They're about 15-20 years behind the Democrats in support for radical social change designed to usher in commie utopia.
I excerpted an interesting analysis of Woodrow Wilson here:

@Thorgeir
The whole right has drifted to the left and I don't think the Conservapaedia authors were having a cheap shot at the Chosen One.
@ David
Thanks,
The more I look at the Wilson Presidency the more convinced I am of what a terrible tragedy it was to the world.
Social Pathologist,
You do not have a good understanding of Woodrow Wilson and the long-term damage he did to the U.S. and the rest of the world. Perhaps David Stockman can enlighten you:

Kurt,
I think you're mistaken.
Wilson is one of the greatest villains of the 20th C. I fully appreciate that a lot of the pain and misery in the 20th C leads squarely to him. The slaughter in Eastern Europe, much like the slaughter that is currently going on in Iraq was based upon his notion that the American model is the best one in the world and everyone should be forced to have it.
SP,
My family, derived from Hapsburg empire Catholics, has long referred to him as "that idiot Wilson." He was, without a doubt, THE WORST US president. One fact will suffice.
On April 2, 1917, he requested and subsequently received a declaration of war against the German empire. On April 17th, the Germans, knowing a 2-front war was a catastrophe, put Lenin on his sealed train to unleash the French Revolutionary virus upon Russia.
no Wilson, no Stalin.
No Wilson, No Stalin.
Yep.
More than being retarded, conservatives suffer an extreme deficit of imagination, leading them to accept the status quo even as it is transformed continuously by the left. We are now at the point where todays conservatives are more socially liberal than yesterday's communist party.
This information is very helpful thank me :D :D
