Great Article by Fred Reed.

I'm late to the party, but Fred has put up a good essay over at his site.

Executive summary: IQ matters but so does culture.

I like many of Fred's columns, but this one is sad. Fred is good on culture and language but a logical, statistical thinker he is not.

An intellectually honest person with Fred's brains would skip the ancedotes and merely ask: what does the data tell us?

But thankfully, intellectually honest thinkers are indeed out there

I live in rural Mexico, in a Third World village. One of my special memories is a debate with two women. A close friend, and a niece (of my wife.)

We discussed who had the best novel, Emily Bronte or her sister Charlotte. Wuthering Heights or Jane Eyre.

A discussion on classic English literature in a Third World village.
