Something like this has been clear with the secular far-right for years (the "WigNats"). The core of their message is always materialist reductionism. They support a homogenous state because of certain empirical scientific theories (like those of J.P. Rushton). If you point out opposing theories, or claim some higher ideal derived from religion or moral philosophy makes their theories irrelevant for public policy, you are dismissed as a science-denier. This is the mirror image of what climate changers do, the only difference is that the climate changers have institutional power.
When it comes to anti-Semitism, they point to the insane materialist theories of Kevin MacDonald (which are basically Marxist and are similar to those of Ludwig Woltmann, who you discussed in your review of A. James Gregor's book on the topic). Again, if you disagree, you deny the immortal science of MacDonaldist evolutionary psychology, and can be dismissed.
The mainstream libertarian right is basically the same, just replace HDB and MacDonaldism with supply-side economics. There is at best only an awkward, half-hearted attempt to point to higher ideals tacked-on at the end. The WigNat appeals to "Our People" then privately acknowledges there is little solidarity among American whites; the libertarian points to the romantic ideal of the captain of industry, despite 80% of new Harvard MBAs being Democrats.
In contrast, the left, despite being entirely secularized, can appeal to immaterial values and emotion, more or less sincerely. Likewise, there is less of a need to create a cult around dubious scientific theories, though this problem does appear on the left to the extent it tries to make purely materialist appeals (look at climate change).
I think you've encapsulated the problem quite nicely.
Right materialism may be a better managed materialism than that of the Left but it still remains a materialism. An atheist Right wing society is probably more spiritually toxic than a left wing one, and given the reality of human value preferences in such a society, i.e. hendonism, it will devolve into a degeneracy given enough time.
Still, I can understand why many of the Right are hostile to religion. Firstly, there is the problem of a Grace derived faith, but secondly, the Clergy, themselves, seem to be advocating social policies that repudiate the teachings of the past and undermine their own existence.
I was reading a biography on De Gaulle today and here is his response on finding out that the Catholic Church was going to be neutral in WW1. (The Germans had allied with the Ottomans.)
How is it that the Pope can favour the infidel to the detriment of the Crusaders: or at least hesitate between them? I readily admit that the motives which send our troops to Constantinople are hardly Christian ones; but there is no doubt that our success will be above all a Christian success, and that the destruction of the Turkish Empire will be a terrible blow to Islam ... The repercussions will be immense ... above all in Africa where the doctrine of Mohammed is spreading with frightening rapidity, preventing the success of our missionaries ... and also the progress of our Civilization.
I'm increasingly of the opinion that the fundamental problem ailing western civilisation is a near heretical turn in Christianity mainly by the clergy. I wish I was wrong on this.
Well, well, those same French under Napoleon III (together with the Brits) saved the Ottomans from Russia during Crimean War... Just a bit of hypocrisy by the great General.
"I'm increasingly of the opinion that the fundamental problem ailing western civilisation is a near heretical turn in Christianity mainly by the clergy. I wish I was wrong on this."
If true, and I am inclined to agree, what can be done about it? Anything?
Any restoration will be of God's choosing not ours. For healing and restoration to occur Grace must abound and become incarnalised. The best we can hope for is to be co-operators in any such project.
However, I am hopeful and I feel that shoots of restoration have begun to sprout--there are numerous signs on the internet--though whether they developed in a full tree I don't know. We have to lean on God to help us here.
I suspect that any restoration is going to be primarily laity/lower-clergy driven and will come about through a "recarnalisation" of the faith.
Religion and family (in that order) are the only hard counters for (left) Liberalism--which is why the West, since the Enlightenment, have worked so hard in destroying both.
If you point out opposing theories, or claim some higher ideal derived from religion or moral philosophy makes their theories irrelevant for public policy, you are dismissed as a science-denier.
Well, any theory must be based in the reality of HBD and economics and known science, right? If not, rational folk will dismiss said theology. As a religious person I remain forever perplexed at perceived conflicts between HBD and Christianity...Christianity donsn't try to remake God's creation but rather accepts it and gives thanks for it.
I do lack experience with MacDonaldism, but only because his books have been banned from Amazon (my reading preference for the TTS). Which tells me MacD must be hitting fairly close to the bulls-eye of truth...else why ban a scholarly book? I don't see Amazon banning books about Flat Earth theory. One only bans books when the truth hurts too much.
@MK: Banning his books was an overreaction to the Poway and Pittsburgh synagogue shootings. Like how Amazon banned CSA flags after the Charleston church shooting. It was an attempt to get brownie points while these attacks were still in the news cycle. They could say they were doing their part to stop future attacks. This fed into the narrative that there was a serious risk of white nationalist terrorism and not just a handful of nut-jobs that occasionally snap in a country of 350 million. For every 1 violent nut there are 100,000 harmless cranks, but the media wanted to build up the idea that this was the new Islamic terrorism (which was also exaggerated by the media and law enforcement- read the "Terror Factory" by Aaronson).
I haven't read C of C in full but from KM articles I read the problems with his ideas are: (1) He gives intellectual movements a biological origin--this is analogous to Marx's "base" and "superstructure". Marx would say, on the surface level, Luther reasoned into protestant theological positions (superstructure), but on a more fundamental, material level (base), changes in the central European economy occurred that lead Luther to sub-rationally develop these theological ideas. "Sola Fide" is just an epi-phenonema or side-effect of economic changes that Luther wasn't even aware of. KM would say that Freduian psychology (or whatever) is just an epi-phenomena of Ashkenazi genes replicating and evolving. Both statements mean nothing, reduce the human intellect to a machine, and are un-falsifiable. Gregor's book shows there was a urge by some Marxists to jump from economics-as-base to Darwinian-genetics-as-base as far back as Woltmann, if not Engels.
(2) KM focuses on the idea that Jews are very leftist and subversive towards non-Jewish "host" societies but conservative and ethnocentric towards internal Jewish affairs (as this best helps Jewish genes survive). While there are a few real examples of this (like the ADL), there are loads of counterexamples where liberal Jews are anti-Zionist, marry gentiles, want the Jewish religion to adopt gay marriage, etc. Liberal diaspora Jews are dying out as an identifiable ethnic group due to intermarriage with gentiles and a lack of ethnocentrism. KM has no answer for this other than to ignore the obvious data and pretend Mark Zuckerberg and his half-Chinese kids are secretly Meir Kahane admirers. Putting aside the metaphysical problems this destroys his theory. KM's new theory is that Anglos are genetically predisposed to liberalism--again, unfalsifiable and there's plenty of counter-examples.
I should disclose that I'm half-Jewish and a Catholic convert (I was raised in an irreligious home and Jewish religious practices are mostly foreign to me). Someone like EMJ, who is Catholic and doesn't view Judaism as a racial characteristic, doesn't really bother me and he makes some good points, though he might take things too far in some places (I haven't read his book because Amazon banned that too). But if KM supporters ever somehow got political power in the US I would probably be deported to Israel (even though I don't see myself as meaningfully Jewish and would be a religious minority in that country), or otherwise I would probably be prevented from having a white-collar job and subject to legal discrimination. Its a fantasy, but it these sorts of Nuremburg-esque policies flow directly from KM's theories. How else to control the subversive effects of Ashkenazi genetics?
I haven't read C of C in full but from KM articles I read the problems with his ideas are...
I don't see any problem with your 'problems'. But again, I'm merely rational and have no ax to grind on the JQ.
But get real: Jews clearly control the media, much of US law & FP (how many Senators have dual citizenship?), and specifically blacklisted KM books because KM is hits too close to what most rational people would see at the obvious truth. Myself, I don't care, just don't piss on my head and claim that it's raining.
