Ok, let's set the scene.
The guy carrying the tree is our nice guy.
The girl in the hospital bed has just had an abortion. Her bad-boy boyfriend, who knocked her up, left her when he found out she was pregnant. Nice Guy, who had secret crush on the girl, came to her aid and hocked his prize possessions--which he slaved to get in the first place--to pay for the abortion.......
It's like watching a train crash.
It was a cheesy movie, but it really deserves more commentary in the conserve-o-sphere.
That was awful. I'm speechless.

ReplyDeleteI posted a comment about this movie over at Ricky Raw's a couple of years ago. I never ever EVER forgot the way I felt watching this scene as young teen. I'd say it did just as much as anything to immunize me against pedestalization. Not total immunization, mind you, but it went a loooong way.
Tupac, likewise.
ReplyDeleteI remember seeing the ending and feeling sick for the guy. You know, from the vantage point of years of experience it's easy to see his beta-ness. But I can see some of my younger self in him and perhaps because I was a bit thick, it seems to have taken me a bit longer to de-pedastalize women than you did.
I honestly think that this should be "THE" beta movie of the Roissy-sphere. So much truth in those ten minutes. It would save so much pain.

ReplyDeleteThe real dagger was the look on the girl's face when she was busted. Not a trace of guilt. A look that said, "Yeah? So what? Can't you be happy for us?"
Well played.

Something tells me a good many of those who are drawn to the Roissy-sphere have already had at least one real-life L.A.V. experience.

ReplyDeleteAgreed.
The way she smiles as she rips his soul out; poetic in its evil.
