With the success of the 'AltRight' Twittersphere, the coming crackdown on the internet is likely to be ruthless. Don't believe me? Consider that it is today's UNIVERSITY STUDENTS who will be making the next set of societal changes. Just look at these safe space fanatics. They WILL NOT have any sense of shame as they flush free speech on the internet down the crapper.
Clear Watershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01067495451323861530noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29137904.post-9216055335541063642016-06-10T02:29:24.932+10:002016-06-10T02:29:24.932+10:00This is a really important post. Just about the entire city is disconnected from the Australian mainstream! Too much time here will give one a very warped perspective on things.

For instance, a few weeks ago I discovered this piece of public 'art':
http://www.sievxmemorial.com/

Agree with the criticism of Abbott's time in office. Never before have I seen a man so conciliatory to those who clearly hate him, and so determined to hide what we all knew he really was (that is, a conservative). Thanks for dropping by. It's alwa...@Giant Bean

Thanks for dropping by. It's always nice to see intelligent life her in Australia!

The book is actually worth getting and I would recommend it. Francis is a serious thinker and I think he needs to be given more credit than he is due. I'm going to order his Essential Writings on Race and see what to make of it. Till then I'm reserving my judgement on that aspect of his thought.

I agree, Turnbull is part of the ruling managerial class. I like to think of him and his group as "Davos Men". Most of the Managerial class here in Australia are enthusiastic supporters of him and much like the situation in the U.S., the average working Australian seems disconnected from their ideals. However, he still is a "conservative" and I feel that their--(ABC and their ilk)-- main objective was to remove a paleo like Abbott and replace him with someone who, while still offensive to the left, is less likely to cause it damage. Abbot's problem was that he was too damn nice. He was given power and he dropped the ball.

Are you in Melbourne by any chance? The Social Pathologisthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12927698533626086780noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29137904.post-44879892330799567022016-06-08T08:27:10.094+10:002016-06-08T08:27:10.094+10:00G'day SP,
As a fellow Australian admirer of J...G'day SP,

As a fellow Australian admirer of James Burnham (can't imagine there are too many of us), thought I'd leave a comment to say that I've really enjoyed your recent posts prompted by the Sam Francis book. Yet to get a copy myself, but have read Francis' book on Burnham in the "thinkers of our time" series.

In this country Turnbull provides a good illustration of the cooption of the leadership of the centre-right party by the managerial elite covered in this post. For years, while Abbott was the Liberal leader, its mouthpieces (principally the ABC) promoted Turnbull as the more acceptable option to lead the party. Since the leadership change last September there's been a considerable softening of the coverage given to the government, and in exchange the new PM has cooperated with the managers on, for instance, the 'clean energy fund' and some of the senior public service appointments in PM&C.Giant Beannoreply@blogger.com
